The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 has started with great excitement, as viewership figures for the opening matches have reached new heights on both digital and television platforms. The growth in viewer numbers illustrates both the increase in interest in women’s cricket on a global stage and the effectiveness of the ICC, JioStar and BCCI partnerships in the delivery of the Women's World Cup to its fanbase.

Data released jointly by the ICC and JioHotstar has shown the opening 13 matches of the event have attracted a cumulative audience of over 60 million viewers – five times that of the 2022 tournament. Total watch-time has risen to 7 billion minutes, a twelve-fold increase compared to the last tournament.

The cricket match between India and Pakistan on October 5 broke all digital records with a reach of 28.4 million and an incredible 1.87 billion minutes of watch-time, meaning it became the most-watched women's international cricket match in history. The match between India and Australia on October 12 broke the record again reaching 4.8 million peak concurrent viewers on JioHotstar, which is the highest ever recorded for all women's cricket matches.

Television viewership has also been a rising tide. The India vs Pakistan match, along with the preceding 11 matches (India's matches against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and South Africa) became the highest-ever rating league stage match in ICC Women's ODI World Cup history. With a cumulative audience at 72 million, rising 166% over last time. Viewing in minutes increased dramatically, rising 327% (6.3 billion minutes), which indicates a more emotional connection for fans of the women's game.

The figures that set new records are the result of a synergistic marketing strategy wherein ICC and JioStar were the main drivers and, at the same time, the BCCI came in with the vital support. The ICC’s “Will to Win” worldwide campaign along with JioStar’s “Jersey Wahi Toh Jazbaa Wahi” have made a huge impact emotionally by emphasizing the aspects of unity, pride, and love for the game.

The World Cup's initiative of inclusivity has received a positive response, as Indian live matches were simultaneously broadcast in five languages—English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada—over various Star Sports channels and JioHotstar. An Indian Sign Language feed has been made available for the very first time giving non-hearing fans the chance to follow the games. JioHotstar’s technology enhancements such as four multi-camera angles and the immersive Max View vertical mode for mobile are among the latest that are altering the way people interact with cricket online.
