Wiaan Mulder Scored 367*, so close to breaking the record of Brian Lara’s 400*

Wiaan Mulder created history on Monday (July 7, 2025) morning, scoring an unbeaten 367 at lunch of the second test match against Zimbabwe. Despite being in great touch, South Africa declared the first innings during the lunch break, 625/5 (Dec), a massive first innings score. Due to Declaration Moulders missed a golden chance to break the record of Legend Brian Lara’s top record of 400 not out, but his amazing innings will be remembered for a long time in Test cricket history.

He reached his triple century in just 297 balls, becoming the second fastest in Test cricket history after the former Indian player Virendra Sehwag, who scored his triple century in just 278 balls way back in 2008 against South Africa at Chennai.

With his excellent innings, he becomes the second South African player to score a triple century in test match cricket after Hashim Amla. Not only that but also the crossed record of Amla 311. Now he holds the highest individual test score by a South African player in Test cricket.

His innings are not just about personal glory; they created many records. He holds the record of the highest individual test score in an away Test, going past Hanif Mohammad’s 337 match against the West Indies in 1958. This innings will be considered a special knock in test cricket history.

The only names ahead of him are Brian Lara, Matthew Hayden and Mahela Jayawardene.
