NEW DELHI: South Africa captain Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bowl against West Indies in a crucial Super Eights clash of the T20 World Cup here on Thursday.

Both teams head into the contest with one win each from their only match in Group 1 of the Super 8s. While a victory will not officially seal a semifinal berth, it will push the winner significantly closer in what is turning into a tightly contested race.

With the semifinal scenarios heating up, this fixture carries added weight. West Indies are unbeaten so far in the tournament and have looked in formidable touch.

South Africa too remain unbeaten and will be brimming with confidence after thrashing a strong Indian side by a massive 76 run margin a few days ago.

South Africa are unchanged for the encounter, while Roston Chase replaces Akeal Hosein in the West Indies line up.

Teams:

South Africa: Aiden Markram (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Ryan Rickelton, Dewald Brevis, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi.

West Indies: Brandon King, Shai Hope (wk/c), Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase, Romario Shepherd, Jason Holder, Matthew Forde, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph.
