Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2026. Punjab remained unchanged, but Mumbai made three major changes to their playing eleven today.
Rohit Sharma among key names miss out for MI, PBKS going with same team
Mumbai Indians have been dealt a major setback with Rohit Sharma missing out due to the hamstring injury he picked up in the previous match. In his absence, Quinton de Kock has come into the side as a replacement at the top. Rohit will take a few weeks to return, as Hardik Pandya stated at the toss.
There is another change for MI as Mitchell Santner has been ruled out due to illness. Youngster Mayank Rawat has been handed a debut as the replacement, adding a fresh face to the lineup.
Trent Boult also misses out, marking another significant change to the bowling setup.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings have gone in unchanged, sticking with the same playing XI from their previous match.

Captains take on a toss
Hardik Pandya spoke about the team changes and injury concerns after the toss. He confirmed that Rohit Sharma is still recovering and will need a few more games before he returns. He added that the side has had to make a couple of adjustments to manage the situation.
“Yeah, Rohit is out from the last game. He's gonna take a couple of games for him to see how exactly where he is. And Mitchell is unwell as well. So Mitchell Santner also is not available. So, yeah, we got a couple of changes.”
On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer stressed the importance of staying present and maintaining intent throughout the game.
“I just ask everyone from the team that they should stick to the present and see to it that they are intent and they are proactive throughout.”
