NEW DELHI: Emotions always run high when there is an India vs Pakistan clash on the cricket field. History and rivalry ensure there is never a shortage of intensity when the two sides meet.
The same was evident in the Under-19 Asia Cup final, where tempers flared during India’s steep chase of a daunting 348-run target in a charged atmosphere.
India’s early pressure deepened in the third over when Ayush Mhatre was dismissed. The Indian batter edged the ball and was caught in the deep, but the wicket itself soon took a back seat.
As Mhatre walked back, remarks from the Pakistan players prompted him to turn around and respond, leading to a brief verbal exchange before the umpires stepped in to calm things down.

The tension returned two overs later with the fall of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Attempting to force the pace, he was caught behind off an attacking shot, a blow that further dented India’s chase.
The dismissal was followed by another animated send-off, with Pakistan’s celebrations stretching the moment as Suryavanshi made his way off.
