Smith was later seen in discussion with Brisbane Heat skipper Usman Khawaja, explaining that the movement behind the bowler’s arm was affecting his concentration. The veteran batter appeared visibly agitated, repeatedly shaking his head as the disturbance continued.

The umpires briefly assessed the situation and stepped in to calm matters before allowing play to resume.

The incident occurred during a crucial phase of the chase. Earlier, Brisbane Heat had posted a competitive 171 for 9 in their 20 overs, putting the Sixers under pressure. Steve Smith produced a brutal knock and brought a half century of 54.

Despite the hostile reception, Smith attempted to maintain his composure at the crease as the Sixers looked to stabilise their innings and stay in the contest.
