NEW DELHI: No matter if he plays just one format, Virat Kohli has shown the cricketing world that his determination and dedication to represent the nation haven't faded even an inch. The star batter made it clear that whenever he arrives, he does so not at 100% but at 120%.

But the future of Kohli and Rohit Sharma in international cricket has been a topic of discussion, especially since both legends now play only ODIs after retiring from Tests and T20Is. Multiple reports have suggested that any slip-up - whether in fitness or form - could give the selectors a reason to move on from the senior duo.

But both Virat and Rohit have settled the debate, letting their bats do the talking ever since they returned to the ODI setup in October against Australia Down Under.

In the first ODI against South Africa in Ranchi on Sunday, Kohli struck his 52nd ODI and 83rd international century, reminding some experts - which often sees him in the twilight of his career - of his enduring class.

Rohit too had his moment when he smashed a world-record 352nd six in ODI cricket, surpassing former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi's tally of 351 during his 57-run knock.

Kohli's 'no-look' moment with Gambhir

After the match, which India won by 17 runs to go 1–0 up in the three-match series, a video of Kohli has been doing the rounds on social media, further fuelling speculation that all is not well in the Indian camp.

In the video, Kohli is seen walking up the stairs and entering the dressing room where head coach Gautam Gambhir is seated. But Kohli, with his mobile in hand, appears to give Gambhir a cold shoulder, walking past without even looking at him, while Gambhir is seen watching him.

Kohli sends clear message

"I have never been a believer of a lot of preparation. All my cricket has been mental. I work physically very hard, as long as my fitness levels are up and I am feeling well, it's good," said Kohli, in his own inimitable way, making clear what he feels about all those who are skeptical about his lack of match time.

Maybe not in as many words but if one reads between the lines of Kohli's statement, it is not difficult to understand what he feels about playing in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, which the national selection committee wants him to do.

"I've played 300-odd ODI games and so much cricket, if you're in touch with the game and are able to hit balls in the practice, if you bat for an hour or two in the nets, you know you're good.

"If you're out of form, you want to play more in the nets. Other than that, it's about being mentally ready and enjoying the game," he said.
