India’s batting talisman Virat Kohli added another historic milestone to his illustrious career on Wednesday, surpassing legendary Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest batter to complete 16,000 runs in List A cricket.

Kohli reached the landmark in just 330 innings during Delhi’s opening match of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy against Andhra at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Tendulkar had previously taken 391 innings to achieve the same feat.

With this achievement, the 37-year-old further strengthened his dominance in the format, now holding the record for being the quickest to every 1,000-run milestone from 10,000 List A runs onwards.

Making a return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after a 15-year absence, Kohli continues to boast an exceptional record in India’s premier domestic one-day competition. Across 13 matches, he has amassed 819 runs at an impressive average of 68.25 and a strike rate of 106, including four centuries and three half-centuries.

Having retired from Test and T20 International cricket, Kohli is set to feature next for India in the upcoming home ODI series against New Zealand, scheduled to begin on January 11.
