NEW DELHI: Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become a phenomenon who rarely falters, establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the junior cricket circuit. The 14-year-old prodigy made his intentions clear ahead of the Under-19 World Cup with yet another whirlwind knock.

The left-hander played an exhilarating innings in the World Cup warm-up match against Scotland, smashing 96 off just 50 balls. He cleared the ropes 7 times and struck 9 fours, leaving the opposition completely clueless at the Bulawayo Athletic Club in Zimbabwe on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first, India got off to a flying start thanks to Suryavanshi's explosive innings, while captain Ayush Mhatre played a supporting role, scoring 22 off 19 balls before being dismissed in the seventh over.

However, Mhatre's dismissal did little to slow Suryavanshi's momentum, as he continued to dominate the Scotland bowlers. He smartly rotated the strike while attacking the deliveries that offered scoring opportunities.

He and Aaron George developed a vital partnership as the innings went on, contributing 78 runs together to help India take control of the match.

Suryavanshi exhibited the ideal ratio of calmness to aggression during this time. The bowlers found it difficult to establish any rhythm thanks to his accurate timing and astute shot selection, which kept India firmly in control.

Recently, Suryavanshi has been in sensational touch. He has scored four hundreds in fifty-over cricket alone in the last month, three for India Under-19 and one for Bihar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
