Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is enjoying an IPL 2026 campaign that will be written in golden words for years to come. The same was once again on display in the high-stakes Qualifier 2 clash between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur, where the 15-year-old prodigy stood tall for his side but heartbreakingly missed out on a well-deserved century yet again.

Despite RR losing key batters inside the powerplay, Vaibhav continued his fearless approach and smashed a blistering 96 runs off just 47 deliveries.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi becomes fastest batter to 1000 IPL runs

With his sensational knock, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has now become the fastest batter to complete 1000 runs in IPL history in terms of balls faced.

The RR opener reached the landmark in just 440 deliveries, showcasing a strike rate well above 200 while achieving the feat.

What makes the feat even more staggering is the massive gap between Vaibhav and the second player on the list. Andre Russell, who primarily bats as a finisher, took 545 balls to reach the milestone — 105 deliveries more than the RR youngster.

Fewest balls taken to 1000 IPL runs:

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 440 balls
Andre Russell - 545 balls
Tim David - 560 balls
Travis Head - 575 balls
Phil Salt - 575 balls
Heinrich Klaasen - 594 balls
Virender Sehwag - 604 balls

Sooryavanshi enters unfortunate 90s dismissal list

While the innings once again underlined his greatness, it also added Vaibhav to an unfortunate list in IPL history.

The youngster registered his third dismissal in the 90s in IPL 2026, equalling Glenn Maxwell’s record from the 2014 season for the most 90s dismissals in a single IPL edition.

Batters with multiple dismissals in 90s in an IPL edition:

Glenn Maxwell - 3 dismissals in 2014
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 3 dismissals in 2026
Mitchell Marsh - 2 dismissals in 2026

Vaibhav has also now joined an elite but unlucky overall IPL list featuring players with the most dismissals in the 90s.

Batters with most dismissals in 90s in IPL history:

David Warner - 3 dismissals
KL Rahul - 3 dismissals
Glenn Maxwell - 3 dismissals
Ruturaj Gaikwad - 3 dismissals
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 3 dismissals

With this innings, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi now has 776 runs in IPL 2026, at a strike rate of an almost unbelievable 237.31. Numbers like these barely seem real.

And if Rajasthan Royals manage to cross the line in Qualifier 2, the 15-year-old sensation will now head into the IPL 2026 final on Sunday as the brightest young star world cricket has seen in years.
