Dreams have been shattered in Dhaka. In a shocking turn of events, the Bangladesh cricket team has been effectively barred from playing in the T20 World Cup next month in India. The decision comes directly from the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Bangladeshi government, leaving players dejected and voiceless.
The drama began with rising political tension. Reports of minority injustice and anti-Hindu violence in Bangladesh sparked outrage across the border in India. The situation boiled over when Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman was suddenly banned from the IPL by the BCCI and his franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, citing "developments all around."

Furious at what they called a humiliation, the BCB retaliated. They banned the telecast of the IPL in Bangladesh and declared that India was unsafe for their players. They demanded that the ICC shift their World Cup matches to a neutral venue like Sri Lanka.
But the ICC didn't blink. Rejecting the security claims as baseless, the global body issued a strict 24-hour ultimatum: travel to India or be replaced by Scotland.
Caught in this geopolitical crossfire are the players, who were desperate to play. According to reports, the squad was summoned to a meeting not to be consulted, but to be told their fate.
One anonymous cricketer revealed the heartbreaking reality, "The meeting was called not to give our consent as it was made out to be initially. Rather, we were called so that we are aware of the development in the ongoing crisis. They made up their mind and decided what they would do before coming into the meeting... They didn't ask. They made the plan directly and said it's not happening."
As the clock ticks down to the February 7 start, Bangladesh looks set to miss the mega-event, leaving fans furious and players devastated by a game played off the field.
