India’s triumphant campaign at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 has sparked significant movement in the latest International Cricket Council Men’s ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings, with several Indian stars climbing the charts following their dominant title-winning run.
Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India emphatically sealed the championship with a crushing 96-run victory over New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The win not only secured back-to-back T20 World Cup titles for India but also made them the first team to lift the trophy three times in the tournament’s history.
The historic triumph has had an immediate impact on the ICC rankings, with multiple Indian stars being rewarded for their performances during the tournament.
Ranking twist for the ‘Mystery Spinner: Varun Chakravarthy

Despite being one of India’s standout performers during the tournament, Varun Chakravarthy slipped from the No.1 spot in the T20I bowlers’ rankings. The Indian spinner dropped to second place as Rashid Khan of Afghanistan reclaimed the top position, even though he did not feature in any matches during the past week.
Elsewhere in the rankings, several bowlers were rewarded for their performances during the World Cup. England leg-spinner Adil Rashid climbed one place to fourth, while India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah also moved up a spot to sixth. All-rounder Axar Patel enjoyed one of the biggest gains, jumping six places to 17th after an impactful campaign with both ball and bat.
Apart from that, the bowling charts at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 were headlined by Jasprit Bumrah, who finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 14 wickets from eight matches at an impressive economy rate of 6.21. Close behind him was teammate Varun Chakravarthy, who also claimed 14 wickets but from nine games, with an economy rate of 9.26.
India’s World Cup success has clearly reshaped the rankings landscape, with several of their stars reaping the rewards of a memorable tournament run. Yet, the biggest talking point remains the curious case of Chakravarthy, a World Cup winner who, despite his heroics, finds himself one step away from the summit.
