Shubman Gill’s power-packed century proved too strong for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s iconic knock as Gujarat Titans booked their place in the IPL 2026 final with a commanding seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 at Mullanpur.

In a high-scoring clash and a massive chase under pressure, GT batters made a complete cakewalk of the 215-run target and marched into their stronghold in Ahmedabad with one of the most memorable batting performances in IPL playoffs history.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Donovan Ferreira power Rajasthan Royals to 214

After Rajasthan Royals opted to bat first, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again came out firing on all cylinders despite the top order crumbling early.

The 15-year-old prodigy heartbreakingly missed out on yet another century as he was dismissed for a sensational 96 runs off just 47 deliveries at a strike rate above 200.

Meanwhile, promoted up the order, Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial innings of 45 runs in 35 deliveries and held one end strongly. Jadeja also had a brief retired hurt scare during the innings before returning back to bat.

While RR’s lower middle order struggled to make an impact, Donovan Ferreira completely changed the momentum at the death. The South African batter went after Rashid Khan in brutal fashion and smashed four sixes in the final over to score a blistering 38 runs off just 11 deliveries.

Ferreira’s late fireworks powered Rajasthan Royals to a massive total of 214/6 in their 20 overs.

For Gujarat Titans, Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder once again delivered clinical spells and picked up two wickets each without leaking too many runs in a standout bowling effort.

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan make 215-run chase look easy

Coming out to chase a very competitive total, Gujarat Titans batters showed tremendous composure, especially skipper Shubman Gill.

The opening duo of Gill and Sai Sudharsan stitched together a scintillating 167-run partnership in just 77 deliveries and completely took the game away from Rajasthan Royals inside the first 10 overs itself.

Both batters looked in sublime touch from the very beginning and consistently found boundaries while keeping the required run-rate under control.

Sai Sudharsan unfortunately grabbed headlines for the second consecutive game after getting dismissed hit wicket once again. The unusual dismissal left cricket fans in disbelief as the in-form opener departed for a brilliant 58 runs off 32 deliveries.

However, Shubman Gill continued his assault and brought up his fifth IPL century in what was arguably the biggest knock of his IPL career.

The GT skipper smashed 104 runs off just 53 deliveries, including 15 fours and three sixes, dismantling the RR bowling attack with absolute authority.

Although Rajasthan Royals managed to pick up a few wickets in the middle overs, the game had already slipped far away from them. Rahul Tewatia eventually sealed the chase in style with a six as Gujarat Titans chased down 215 in just 18.4 overs.

GT set up IPL 2026 final clash against RCB

It turned out to be a disappointing outing for Rajasthan Royals bowlers. Jofra Archer, who had been clinical throughout the tournament, conceded 45 runs in four overs while taking just one wicket.

Nandre Burger and Brijesh Sharma picked up one wicket each but RR’s overall bowling effort remained below the standards expected in such a high-pressure clash.

IPL 2026 now moves towards its final chapter as Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will collide for the grand title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 31.

Both teams will be chasing their second IPL title. Meanwhile, RCB will also be looking to become only the third franchise in IPL history after Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings to successfully defend their crown.
