In a delightful moment for fans, Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner Preity Zinta and team captain Shreyas Iyer were spotted together in a cheerful public appearance. The two posed for photographers in a recent viral video, sparking excitement ahead of the upcoming IPL season.

Preity Zinta welcomes Shreyas Iyer back in style

In the clip, Preity Zinta is seen playfully introducing Shreyas, saying, "I’ve got him for you." Photographers, thrilled to see the PBKS captain after his long injury layoff, greeted him with enthusiastic cheers of "Kya baat hai, Shreyas bhai!"

Preity looked elegant in a white top paired with blue denim, while Shreyas kept it simple and stylish in a classic shirt and black trousers. His appearance drew widespread attention as it marked his first public outing since suffering a major injury.

Despite the setback, PBKS retained Shreyas Iyer ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Last year, Iyer had an outstanding run, leading PBKS to the IPL final and finishing as the team’s top run-scorer.

Shreyas Iyer’s injury and recovery timeline

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has been sidelined ever since a serious on-field accident during the third ODI in Australia. While attempting a spectacular catch, he fractured his ribs, and the situation worsened when scans revealed a ruptured spleen and severe internal bleeding. He underwent a minor procedure, spent time in the ICU, and the BCCI later confirmed he had suffered an abdominal injury with spleen laceration.

Recent ultrasonography reports have shown improvement in his condition, but doctors have advised him to avoid any activities that could strain his abdominal region. Iyer will undergo another USG test in two months, after which the BCCI will assess when he can begin rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

As things stand, Shreyas Iyer is unlikely to return to competitive cricket before IPL 2026.
