Rohit Sharma Reflects on India’s Champions Trophy Triumph

Recently, the seasoned opener was recently honoured at a cricket awards event in Mumbai for captaining India to a memorable Champions Trophy triumph in Dubai, where the team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. Reflecting on the achievement, Rohit said, “Look, I love that team and loved playing with them. It’s a journey we were all part of for many years. It’s not about one or two years of work — it’s something that started long ago.”

He added that the victory was a collective effort, built on years of persistence and unity within the squad. “We had come close many times but couldn’t cross the line. That’s when everyone decided we needed to do something different. It wasn’t about one or two players — everyone had to buy into the same thought, and that’s what made the difference.”

As Rohit left the ground, Nayar was again heard appealing to the crowd, saying, “Koi dhakka mat dena, hum sab fans hain, lekin usko lagna nahi chahiye (We’re all fans, but please don’t push him).”
