NEW DELHI: Indian star opener and former captain Rohit Sharma arrived in Delhi on Tuesday evening and is set to join the team, ahead of India’s tour of Australia. The squad would leave on Wednesday, as they are set to face the Australian team on October 19.

After being removed from ODI captaincy, he was seen in the CEAT awards, fit and dashing, where he received an award for his contribution as a captain for the Champions Trophy.

He recently completed his training session with his friend and former assistant coach, Abhishek Nayar, in the Shivaji Park in Mumbai, as a part of his preparations for the Australia tour. He displayed his pull shots and cut shots against pace bowling. He also practised sweep shots and slog sweep shots against spin bowling.

Rohit Sharma's final appearance as Indian captain team was in the Champions Trophy final. Many speculated that Sharma and Kohli would step down, but both of them are in pursuit for playing longer, till the next ODI World Cup.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are both in the eyes of the cricketing world and their future is still hanging in doubt as fitness and form remain a bigger question, if they will play till the 2027 World Cup.
