NEW DELHI: Vaibhav Suryavanshi has created a sensation at the ACC Men's Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025. The 14-year-old smashed a century in just 32 balls against the UAE on Friday at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha. Even after reaching his hundred, Vaibhav didn't slow down. He ended with a stunning 144 off just 42 balls, hitting 15 sixes and 11 fours.

Mayhem in Doha! Vaibhav Suryavanshi's 42-ball 144 shatters record books

Earlier in the innings, he raced to his fifty in only 17 balls. Together with Naman Dhir, Vaibhav added 163 runs for the second wicket in just 56 balls. Naman scored 34 off 23 balls. Vaibhav was eventually caught by Ahmed Tariq, bowled by Mohammad Farajuddin.

Vaibhav's 32-ball century is now the joint third-fastest by an Indian in men's T20 cricket.

He also became the first cricketer to score two T20 centuries off 35 balls or fewer, having earlier smashed a 35-ball hundred for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025 - the fastest IPL century by an Indian batter.

A rising star in Indian cricket

Vaibhav is also in brilliant form in Under-19 cricket. During the Australia tour, he scored 133 runs in three Test innings, including a blazing 113 off 86 balls. On the England tour, he scored 355 runs in the Under-19 ODI series at an average of 71.

He made his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 12, received an IPL contract at 13, and became the youngest centurion in T20 cricket soon after.

When will Vaibhav get a chance in the senior team?

With his consistent performances and record-breaking innings at such a young age, many believe Vaibhav Suryavanshi could become a major star for India in the future. He has already represented India Under-19 and India A.

Looking at his current form, it wouldn't be surprising if he gets a chance in the senior Indian team soon - especially in T20 internationals.
