Rashid Khan keenly continued his excellent performance in white-ball cricket, moving up five places to take the No. 1 spot in the ICC ODI bowling rankings after an excellent series against Bangladesh. The Afghan leg-spinner took 11 wickets across three matches — including a magnificent five-wicket haul in the second ODI — in his team's 3-0 clean sweep over Bangladesh. Rashid's performances helped him become 30 rating points ahead of Keshav Maharaj of South Africa, who is in second place in the rankings.

Omarzai and Rashid Khan shine as Afghanistan dominate ICC charts

Rashid's heroics weren’t the only highlights for Afghanistan. Azmatullah Omarzai, the 25-year-old all-rounder, had a breakout series - producing seven wickets along with 60 runs in total, including an important 40 in the opening match. His all-round performance delivered a 19-place rise in the bowling rankings to No. 21. Azmatullah climbed atop the ICC ODI all-rounders’ table, eclipsing Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, and delivered career-best ratings of 559 points as a bowler and 334 as an all-rounder - significant growth in both capacities.

Rashid also broke into the top five ODI all-rounders, coming in at No. 4, while Afghanistan’s players enjoyed the reward of their collective excellence in Abu Dhabi.

For batters, Ibrahim Zadran ascended to No. 2 - second only to India’s Shubman Gill - after scoring back-to-back 95s. Mohammad Nabi's rapid-fire 62 from 37 balls in the final match parlayed him up six places to No. 50, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz gained a couple of spots after producing two sound knocks of 50 and 42.
