Ahead of the global event, Afghanistan will fine-tune their preparations with a three-match T20I series against the West Indies. Notably, the same squad named for the World Cup will also feature in the bilateral series.
The T20I series against the West Indies will be hosted by Afghanistan but played in the UAE from January 19 to January 22, providing the team an ideal opportunity to assess combinations and build momentum ahead of the World Cup.
Rashid Khan has been named captain of the side, with Ibrahim Zadran appointed vice-captain. The squad sees the return of experienced all-rounder Gulbadin Naib, while pacer Naveen-ul-Haq makes his comeback after recovering from a shoulder injury.
Afghanistan have retained a strong core of proven performers, blending experience with emerging talent as they look to make a deep run in the tournament.
