Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly produced stunning knocks as Punjab Kings powered to their fifth win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with a crushing 54 run victory over Lucknow Super Giants.

With this win, PBKS have become the first team to stay unbeaten in their first six matches in IPL history, a remarkable milestone that underlines their dominance this season.

Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly script batting masterclass

The story began on a shaky note as Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed for a golden duck. However, what followed was pure dominance from Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly.

The duo stitched together a massive 182 run partnership in just 80 deliveries, completely taking the game away from LSG. Priyansh Arya fell just short of a deserved century, scoring 93 off 37 balls with four fours and nine sixes.

Cooper Connolly complemented him brilliantly with 87 off 46 balls, playing with control and power. The partnership left LSG bowlers searching for answers throughout the innings.

In the end, Marcus Stoinis and Shashank Singh provided the finishing touch as Punjab Kings posted a huge 254 for 7 in 20 overs.

It was a difficult night for the LSG bowlers as they struggled to contain the flow of runs. Despite picking up wickets, they conceded heavily on a flat surface.

Prince Yadav and Manimaran Siddharth picked up two wickets each, while Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan chipped in with one apiece. However, the overall bowling performance lacked control and discipline.

Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram fight in vain

Chasing a massive total, LSG were under pressure right from the start. The team tried a change by promoting Ayush Badoni up the order and it brought some early momentum in the powerplay.

However, with the required rate climbing close to 13 runs per over, the batters failed to build sustained partnerships. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

Rishabh Pant played a fighting knock of 43 while Aiden Markram added 42, but their efforts were not enough to challenge Punjab’s total.

Marco Jansen leads clinical bowling

Punjab Kings backed up their batting with a solid bowling effort. Marco Jansen led the attack with two wickets while maintaining good control.

Arshdeep Singh also chipped in with a wicket, while Vijaykumar Vyshak and Yuzvendra Chahal contributed with disciplined spells to keep LSG in check.

Punjab Kings successfully restricted Lucknow Super Giants to 200 for 5, sealing a comprehensive win.

With this win, Punjab Kings have firmly established themselves at the top of the table and continue their unbeaten run in style.

On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants have now suffered another defeat and will need something special to turn their campaign around in the tournament.
