Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will probably not be out of the game for a long time as he didn't play the third ODI against Australia due to a left quadriceps injury. The young player, who was part of the first two ODIs, had to be absent from the last game in Sydney because he got a small injury in the Adelaide match.
As per the latest update, the team India morale is quite high as the injury is not considered a serious one, and Nitish is anticipated to be with the squad on his tour for the upcoming five-match T20I series, starting from October 29 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
“Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide and was subsequently unavailable for selection for the third ODI. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him on a daily basis,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.
As per a report, the young 22-year-old pace-bowling all-rounder, who is quite a vital player, is showing good signs of recovery. Although it is still a bit of a wait to see if he will be able to make it to the first T20I, the Indian team management is definitely positive about his presence during the rest of the series.
Nitish had been drafted into the ODI and T20I squads as a substitute for Hardik Pandya, who is also on the mend after a quadriceps injury. If Nitish cannot be able to get to full fitness in time, the question of whose name the selectors will be announcing as his replacement will be quite intriguing, considering the limited number of pace-bowling all-rounders that India has right now.
