Mumbai won the IPL trophy 5 times, joining the most with CSK in history.  They have won the trophy in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. In IPL history, till now they have qualified for the playoffs 10 times in 16 seasons. The five-time champions have played 21 games in the IPL playoffs, winning 14 of them and losing only 7. 

MI's last few seasons haven't gone well enough when their position in the IPL points table was in the bottom line in 2022 and 2024. Hardik Pandya took over as captain from Rohit in 2024 when MI finished at the bottom of the table. Though has qualified for the playoffs in the 2025 IPL and finished at the 3rd position.

MI vs CSK, 2018 Opening Match:

MI scored 165 runs. CSK were in a pressurised situation, but Dwayne Bravo played an explosive innings of 68 (30) and Kedar Jadhav, despite an injury, won the match in the last over.

MI vs CSK, 2010 Final: 

This was the first title of CSK. Suresh Raina's 57-run innings helped CSK make 168 and beat MI by 22 runs to become champions for the first time.
