Mumbai Indians is one of the most successful teams in IPL history with 5 trophies on their name. Over the years many legendary players have played in Mumbai Indians IPL team. Mumbai Indians: Legacy & Achievements
Mumbai won the IPL trophy 5 times, joining the most with CSK in history. They have won the trophy in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. Their star-studded lineup has featured the legendary Sachin Tendulkar in 2008 IPL, with Sanath Jayasuriya who made his IPL debut in 2010. Zaheer Khan, Kieron Pollard, and Lasith Malinga also were some exciting players in the MI team.
Malinga was very famous for his accurate yorkers and death over bowling, winning the purple cap in 2011. Jasprit Bumrah made his IPL debut in 2013, under Rohit Sharma who also started his IPL captaincy career in the same year. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, MI was the most successful from the 2017 through 2020 season. MI was the table topper and won three times in those four years, to become the most successful IPL team.
MI played the first playoff in IPL way back in 2010, where only top four teams played the semi-finals instead of the current playoff rules. In IPL history, till now they have qualified for the playoffs 10 times in 16 seasons. The five-time champions have played 21 games in the IPL playoffs, winning 14 of them and losing only 7.
MI's last few seasons haven't gone well enough when their position in the IPL points table was in the bottom line in 2022 and 2024. Hardik Pandya took over as captain from Rohit in 2024 when MI finished at the bottom of the table. Though has qualified for the playoffs in the 2025 IPL and finished at the 3rd position.

Starting with batting legend Sachin Tendulkar in IPL 2008, the Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya, Zaheer Khan and WI T20 specialist Kieron Pollard they have many names in their IPL playing 11. Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah & Hardik Pandya are some of the famous names in the present line up. Yorker specialist Lasith Malinga was in their lineup once in IPL history.

Srilankan Pacer Lasith Maling took 195 wickets in 139 matches in his career with a staggering 19.35 avg and 7 four wicket hauls. The Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah took 186 wickets in 148 matches so far in his IPL career with 3 four wicket hauls. The turbanator Harbhajan Singh took 147 wickets in his IPL career for Mumbai with an excellent economy of 6.96 and 1 five wicket haul.
