Mohsin Naqvi, ACC chairman and Pakistan interim minister, is set to miss the ACC meeting on Friday, 7 November 2025. His official reason is his required presence in Islamabad for a Senate session, where he would propose a 27th Constitutional amendment. His absence will raise serious concerns, since the Asia Cup trophy final, the drama is far from over. After the Pakistani minister ran away with the trophy, the BCCI has been trying its best to solve the issue.
As Naqvi will be in Pakistan, the PCB Chief Operating Officer, Sameer Ahmed Syed, will represent Pakistan at the ACC meeting. According to a report, there are fewer chances of Naqvi joining from a video call, so this removes the possibility of a direct clash between him and the BCCI.
BCCI plans to file a charge sheet against Mohsin Naqvi

The BCCI is preparing to file a formal charge sheet against Naqvi, citing a conflict of interest. The board argues that holding dual roles as PCB chairman and Interior Minister violates ICC governance rules, which prohibit government interference in the operations of national cricket boards.
The controversy dates back to the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. Following India’s victory over Pakistan in the final on September 28, the Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi due to his provocative behaviour during the tournament. Indian players also refrained from shaking hands with Pakistani counterparts throughout the event.
As ACC president, Naqvi insisted he alone had the authority to present the trophy and later proposed a separate ceremony in Dubai, which India declined. He then moved the trophy to another location, demanding that an active Indian player meet him personally to receive it.
