Mumbai Indians’ star duo Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur produced a commanding batting display with unbeaten half-centuries, while pacer Nicola Carey dismantled the Delhi Capitals middle order as the defending champions stormed back to winning ways with a dominant 50-run victory in the Women’s Premier League on Saturday.

Sciver-Brunt smashed a fluent 70 off 46 balls, while skipper Harmanpreet, determined to atone for MI’s last-ball heartbreak against Royal Challengers Bengaluru a day earlier, blazed an unbeaten 74 from just 42 deliveries. Their efforts powered the Mumbai Indians to a formidable 195 for 4, a total that proved well beyond the Delhi Capitals’ reach.
Nicola Carey’s burst and MI’s all-round show sink DC

Nicola Carey delivered a decisive spell in the middle overs, finishing with figures of 3/37 to derail Delhi Capitals’ chase. Her crucial strikes included the prized wickets of Shafali Verma (8) and Laura Wolvaardt (9) in the fifth over, triggering a dramatic collapse that left DC reeling at 33 for 3. The slide worsened rapidly as the Capitals slumped to 46 for 5 by the seventh over.
Despite a valiant counterattack from Chinelle Henry, who top-scored with a fighting 56 off 33 balls, Delhi never truly recovered and were eventually bowled out for 145 in 19 overs.
Sciver-Brunt capped off a memorable outing by contributing with the ball as well, picking up two wickets for 29 runs. Amelia Kerr, who struggled with the bat, made amends with an excellent bowling performance, returning figures of 3/24 to ensure MI maintained control throughout the chase.
Nat Sciver-Brunt roars back to form
A day after enduring a rare off day against RCB, 33-year-old Sciver-Brunt produced a blistering response, striking 13 boundaries in a commanding knock that set the tone for Mumbai’s innings.
She found strong support in Harmanpreet, with the pair stitching together a vital 66-run partnership for the third wicket after Amelia Kerr fell for a first-ball duck. The stand stabilised the innings and laid the foundation for MI’s late assault.
Sciver-Brunt was particularly severe on West Indies pacer Chinelle Henry, collecting 10 runs in her second over and continuing to find the boundary with ease. She also shared a useful 49-run stand with opener Gunalan Kamalini, who showed intent before falling to a clever yorker from Nandani Sharma.
Reaching her half-century in just 32 balls, Sciver-Brunt punished anything short, forcing DC’s bowlers onto the defensive. Although she was eventually dismissed by Shree Charani, Harmanpreet took over seamlessly, launching a brutal finishing act that sealed MI’s dominance and set up a comprehensive win.
