NEW DELHI: Henil Patel produced a devastating spell with the ball to headline India's dominant start to the ICC Under-19 World Cup, as the USA were skittled out for just 107 in 35.2 overs in Bulawayo on Thursday.
Opting to bowl first under overcast skies, the right-arm seamer ripped through the USA batting line-up, finishing with outstanding figures of 5 for 16 from seven overs, including a maiden. Henil set the tone early, striking in his opening over by getting Amrinder Gill (1) to edge one to Vihaan Malhotra at slip.
The pressure continued to build at the other end as Deepesh Devendran joined the act, removing Sahil Garg (16), who was caught by Henil at third man, leaving USA struggling at 29 for 2 inside nine overs.

Henil then took complete control of the innings with a match-turning over. He first cleaned up captain Utkarsh Srivastava for a five-ball duck and followed it up by dismissing wicketkeeper Arjun Mahesh (16) in the same over, triggering a collapse that saw USA slide to 35 for 4.
With the batting order in disarray, Henil kept probing and soon added to his tally, forcing another loose shot that was safely taken at third man. The USA never recovered from that collapse, losing wickets at regular intervals.
Returning later to clean up the tail, Henil removed Sabrish Prasad (7) and Rishabh Shimpi (0) to complete a memorable five-wicket haul, as India bundled out the USA well inside the allotted overs to seize complete control of the contest.
