The Indian Premier League 2026 action returns to Eden Gardens where Kolkata Knight Riders will be taking on Rajasthan Royals in match 28 on Sunday, April 19.

KKR vs RR match preview

The hosts KKR have been going through a horrible run without a single win this season. These games have now turned into do or die contests for the three-time champions if they want to stay alive in this competition.

Led by Ajinkya Rahane, the side has been poor so far in all departments. One big positive though was Cameron Green finally finding some form in the previous game against Gujarat Titans. The most expensive player of the season looked good at last and that gives them a bit of hope.

But the bowling still lacks consistency and depth. And the batters who showed promise early in the season now look completely out of confidence. That has hurt them badly.

Rajasthan Royals on the other hand come into this game after their first defeat of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad a couple of days ago. Led by a young Riyan Parag, they have been excellent with the bat overall.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been batting really well and giving the team strong starts. But apart from the previous game, most of the responsibility has been on the top order so far. The middle and lower order now need to step up a bit.

In the bowling department, they have done a solid job. With Nandre Burger and Ravi Bishnoi leading the attack, the unit looks well settled and balanced.

KKR vs RR key players

Angkrish Raghuvanshi – One of the few KKR batters who has put up a fight this season. Raghuvanshi has 190 runs in six games and he will be looking to carry on that momentum to keep his side alive.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi – The 15-year-old young prodigy has been making headlines this season. With 200 runs in five games, he will be expected to fire again after getting out on a duck in the previous match.

Sunil Narine – The experienced all-rounder has been one of the rare positives for KKR. With the kind of experience he has, the team will need him to step up in this crucial game.

Ravi Bishnoi – The local boy has picked up 9 wickets in five games and has been very effective in the middle overs. Rajasthan will be relying on him once again.

KKR vs RR match prediction

It looks like Knigth Riders are nowhere near Rajasthan Royals in this clash. One side has been performing consistently while KKR still look like a team searching for answers.

Cameron Green finding form is a big positive no doubt. But the bowling still lacks depth and that remains a major concern.

Rajasthan Royals on the other hand have looked like a complete side this season. Even with that one loss, they still carry strong momentum into this game.

Going by current form, Rajasthan Royals should have the edge here.

Prediction: Rajasthan Royals to win the match.
