Despite a mixed reign in Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Ishan Kishan remains a top-order option for many franchises. According to The Times of India, the Mumbai Indians (MI), Ishan Kishan’s former IPL franchise, have approached the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for either a trade or an all-cash deal. Kishan, who spent seven seasons with MI, remains their sixth-highest run-scorer.
The franchise has been grappling with a wicketkeeping dilemma ahead of IPL 2025. Robin Minz appeared unready for the top level, Shrijith Krishnan didn’t feature in a single match, and while Ryan Rickelton impressed in his debut season, his selection forced Hardik Pandya’s side to reshuffle their overseas combination.
All three franchises, MI, KKR, and RR, are reportedly in the market for a top-order wicketkeeper-batter to strengthen their current squad balance. South Africa’s Ryan Rickleton performed admirably at the top of the order for MI in IPL 2025, but bringing back Ishan Kishan would offer the team greater flexibility. His inclusion would free up an overseas slot in the Playing XI and also help the management prepare for the post-Rohit Sharma era. The former India and MI captain, now 38, is nearing the twilight of his IPL career.
