Chris Gayle(RCB) holds the record for the most sixes in an innings in the IPL. Chris Gayle hammered 17 sixes during his 175-run innings in just 66 deliveries against PWI on 23 April 2013 in RCB vs PWI. With 13 sixes in his 62-ball 128 against DC on 17 May 2012, Chris Gayle(RCB) became the second-highest six-hitter in an IPL innings in DC vs RCB. Brendon McCullum (KKR) obtained 13 sixes while scoring 158 in just 73 balls against RCB on 18 April 2008 in RCB vs KKR. He is the 3rd-highest player in terms of hitting the most sixes in IPL innings. AB de Villiers (RCB) smashed 12 sixes in his 129 off just 52 balls versus GL on 14 May 2016 in RCB vs GL. He is the 4th player on the elite list of hitters with the highest number of sixes. Chris Gayle also came up with 13 sixes against Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2012 and 12 sixes against Kings XI Punjab in 2015.

At the top, Mumbai Indians ranked on number one with 1442 sixes. They have also clinched the title five times without a doubt. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is on the second position of most sixes in an ipl season with 1433 sixes, followed by Chennai Super Kings with 1322 sixes.

The most sixes in ipl by team 2021 was Chennai Super Kings achieving a total of 115 sixes , while most sixes in ipl by team 2022 was the Rajasthan Royals who took the lead with a remarkable 137 sixes.

Chris Gayle has made the record of his own most sixes in one ipl season with the 59 sixes in 2012. He delivered the highest score of 128 at the strike rate of 160.74 and batting average of 61.08. 

Andre Russell also listed on second in the list of most sixes in ipl by a player in one season. He has Launched 52 sixes in 2019 with the batting average of 56.66.
