NEW DELHI: World Cup champions, Asia Cup winners, and the number one T20I team, India's dominance in the shortest format remains unchallenged as they continued their supremacy with another series win against Australia on Saturday.

With their 2-1 victory in the five-match series against Australia - in which the first and last games were washed out - India's unbeaten run in T20Is Down Under now stretches to 13 years.

Having lost a one-off T20I to Australia in 2008, India have remained unbeaten in bilateral T20I series in Australia over the past 13 years, drawing 1-1 in 2012 and 2018, and winning three series: 3-0 in 2016, 2-1 in 2020, and 2-1 in 2025.

On the other hand, Australia have struggled in bilateral T20I series since 2022, suffering defeats in multiple contests. They lost 1-2 to India at home in 2025, 1-4 to India away in 2023, and 0-2 to England at home in 2022. Earlier in 2022, they were also defeated 1-2 by India.

Talking about the match, India made a blazing start after being asked to bat with openers Abhishek Sharma (23 not out off 13 balls) and Shubman Gill (29 not out off 16 balls) going on the offensive.

But lightning stopped play with India cruising at 52 for no loss in 4.5 overs. Soon after, heavy rain lashed the Gabba, forcing the match to be abandoned.

The first T20I had also been washed out, while Australia won the second game by four wickets.

However, India bounced back strongly to win the third and fourth matches by five wickets and 48 runs respectively.

Australia had won the preceding ODI series 2-1.
