NEW DELHI: The BCCI on Friday announced that the Indian women's cricket team will face Sri Lanka in a five-match T20I series to be held in Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram from December 21 to 30.
The series comes shortly after India's scheduled tour of Bangladesh was postponed amid political unrest in the neighbouring country.
This will also mark the team's first outing since their triumphant ODI World Cup campaign earlier this year.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the schedule for the upcoming Women's T20I series as India hosts Sri Lanka for a five-match contest next month. The series will begin in Visakhapatnam before moving to Thiruvananthapuram for the remaining fixtures," the BCCI said in a statement.
Originally, India were slated to host Bangladesh for a home series during this window, but the tour was postponed due to political tensions.
Sri Lanka will now fill that slot, returning to India for their first bilateral women's T20I series since 2016 - a contest the hosts had swept 3-0.
This will also be India's first T20I assignment since their landmark series win in England in July, where they clinched their maiden T20I series victory on English soil with a 3-2 triumph.

1st T20I: December 21, Visakhapatnam
2nd T20I: December 23, Visakhapatnam
3rd T20I: December 26, Thiruvananthapuram
4th T20I: December 28, Thiruvananthapuram
