India doesn't get enough opportunities to flex their batting, but whenever they do, it tends to break a few records here and there. Especially when the duo of Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma get going, it seems like there is nothing that Abhishek Sharma can do wrong. The 25-year-old has been in breathtaking form during the entirety of this tournament.

After his exploits against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, which saw him get awarded the Man of the Match, the Punjab-born opener continued proving his merit against Bangladesh as the top-ranked T20I batsman in the world. After a slow start by his own standards, he went from 9 to 46 in just 10 balls to end the powerplay for India at 72 for no loss. His partner in crime finished the first 6 overs with 25 to his name off 17 deliveries.
This score ranks no.1 in the list of the highest scores in the power play in the Asia Cup T20Is. Previously, that record belonged to India's 62/1 that they scored against Pakistan in the 2022 edition of the Asia Cup, before being broken by India last Sunday after they raced to 69 for no loss against their eternal rivals.

Both times, India has broken the record in this Asia Cup without losing a wicket. And that's a testament to the firepower that the duo of Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma possesses. Gill was caught out just 2 deliveries after the power play on 29 runs. However, Abhishek Sharma continued his carnage, hitting 5 balls for maximums along with 6 fours to take his score to 75 runs.
In the end, an unfortunate call by captain Suryakumar Yadav meant that Abhishek Sharma had to return to the pavilion after being run out. His strike rate at the end of his innings was 202, and the projected score of India was well above 200.
India will keep hoping that the young batting flame keeps on breaking records for the Men in Blue for a long time to come.
