NEW DELHI: Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma is known for his playful yet sarcastic nature both on and off the field. The same side of him was on display during the first ODI between India and New Zealand in Vadodara.
The moment came in the first innings when New Zealand were batting and Mohammed Siraj was bowling.
Siraj delivered a good-length ball and Daryl Mitchell went on the back foot to punch it towards short mid-wicket. Rohit dived full stretch and pulled off a sensational stop, saving a couple of runs for India.
Rohit Sharma stopped the ball with a brilliant dive, and Shubman Gill and Siraj came over to appreciate him. And he was like, “It wasn’t that difficult, guys, I’m not that old yet.” 😂pic.twitter.com/qgLK3rpfcC

Skipper Shubman Gill and Siraj ran up to congratulate him with claps, but Rohit made a playful gesture suggesting he might not be old enough to pull off such fielding feats, leaving both Gill and Siraj laughing hard. At 38, Rohit’s sense of humour and skill remain intact.
Daryl Mitchell once again played a brilliant innings for New Zealand, scoring a stroke-filled half-century while the middle order struggled. His effort helped the visitors reach 300 runs, putting India under pressure in first ODI.
