The high-stakes atmosphere of the International League T20 (ILT20) final reached a flashpoint on Sunday evening at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, as tempers flared between Pakistan pace sensation Naseem Shah and MI Emirates captain Kieron Pollard. The two cricketers were involved in a heated verbal exchange that drew immediate attention, forcing umpires and teammates to intervene. The fiery moment added extra edge to an already tense title clash, underlining that even in franchise cricket, pride and passion remain fiercely guarded.

Naseem Shah vs Kieron Pollard: Tensions spill over before decisive breakthrough

The confrontation unfolded during the 11th over of the MI Emirates’ innings. After Naseem delivered a sharp ball that Pollard defended straight back down the pitch, the young fast bowler appeared to exchange words with the veteran all-rounder. Pollard, never one to shy away from confrontation, responded instantly, striding towards Naseem to express his displeasure.

The situation threatened to escalate before players such as Jason Roy and the on-field umpires stepped in to calm matters and restore order. However, Naseem had the final say. Returning later in the innings, he claimed Pollard’s crucial wicket, dismissing him for 28 and dealing a decisive blow to MI Emirates’ chase.

Naseem’s outstanding spell of 3/18 proved match-winning as the Desert Vipers sealed a commanding 46-run victory, clinching their maiden ILT20 title in emphatic fashion.

Reflecting on the triumph, Naseem acknowledged the unique pressure of a final. “The pressure of a final is different. The credit goes to everyone, batting and bowling. Our combination was good, we had good options with both bat and ball, and the team management used them well. Everyone gave their 100%, and the end result is in front of us,” he said.
