Asia Cup super 4 scenarios: Who will join India, Pakistan in the next round

The Asia Cup is nearing the end of its group stage matches. From Group A, the two heavyweight rivals, India and Pakistan, have made it through their group and are slated to face each other in what will be another blockbuster clash on Sunday. Pakistan's win against the UAE guaranteed their place in the Super 4 last night. But the real question is who will be joining the two in the Asia Cup Super 4. Two out of those three, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, will fight it out today at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The winner will guarantee a place in the Super 4 of the competition, where they will battle it out for a place in the Final along with India and Pakistan. However, there is also a chance of Sri Lanka making it to the next stage if they lose by a small margin against Afghanistan. This would be possible only because Bangladesh has a negative NRR of -0.2. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's run rate of positive 1.5 allows them the luxury to lose and still qualify. Afghanistan, on the other hand, do not have it that easy. For them to qualify, they must win against Sri Lanka no matter what. They lost their match against Bangladesh by a small margin, but only after winning against Hong Kong in a grand fashion that has put them in a spot where they need to defeat Sri Lanka to be able to go to the Super 4. For Bangladesh, it's a waiting game now as their qualification doesn't rest in their hands. They lost their Asia Cup opener against Sri Lanka but managed to bounce back against Afghanistan to clinch victory. With 4 points on the board if Afghanistan win tonight, Bangladesh will not qualify since Afghanistan's NRR is just too good. With India and Pakistan waiting for the two others to join them in the Super 4, it all comes down to the Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan matchup.
