Indian cricketers Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma gained a place in the latest ICC rankings update on Wednesday, March 18. Samson surpassed Finn Allen and Tilak overtook Tim Seifert in the T20I batting rankings after the Kiwi duo's absence from the ongoing T20I series against South Africa.
Meanwhile, Pakistani all-rounder Salman Agha achieved his career-best rankings in ODIs after his brilliant century against Bangladesh on March 15. Agha jumped nine places to join KL Rahul in the ninth position in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings.
Salman Agha was impressive with the bat in the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh last week. He finished as the joint-highest run-getter with 175 runs in three innings to achieve his career-best ratings of 664. After Babar Azam at No. 6, he is only the second Pakistani player in the top 10 of the ICC ODI batting rankings.
New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell stays at the top in the ODI batting rankings, followed by Virat Kohli in second and Ibrahim Zadrand at third. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are placed next, followed by Babar, Shai Hope, Harry Tector, and KL Rahul in the latest ICC rankings.
Meanwhile, after a record-laden success at the T20I World Cup, Indian batters continue to dominate the T20I rankings. Abhishek Sharma remains at the top with Ishan Kishan closely following him in the second place. Tilak Varma sits in the sixth position after jumping one place in the latest update, while Suryakumar Yadav occupies the ninth place.
Jasprit Bumrah gains in latest ICC rankings
Indian cricketers haven't played any international cricket since the previous ICC rankings update on March 11 but managed to make a move in the latest update. In the ICC T20I bowling rankings, India's star pacer Jasprit Bumrah surpassed Corbin Bosch and jumped to fifth position.
Bumrah had the brilliant T20 World Cup campaign, where he took the joint-highest 14 wickets. Meanwhile, Bosch's slipped in the rankings after his absence from South Africa's squad for the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand.
India's Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel lost a place each in T20I bowling rankings on Wednesday. Arshdeep is placed 17th and is followed by Axar in the 18th position. Varun Chakravarthy, who lost his top position in the previous update, remains second in the latest ICC rankings for the T20I bowlers.
In the biggest gain in the latest ICC rankings, Mitchell Santner climbed 11 places up to the 13th position in the T20I bowling chart. Lockie Ferguson, who picked three wickets in the second T20I against the Proteas on March 17, jumped 18 places to the 51st position.
