NEW DELHI: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja continued his dream run with another sensational all-round performance as India sealed a commanding 2-0 Test series victory against the West Indies. The left-handed all-rounder, who was named Player of the Series, spoke about how consistency and clarity had been at the core of his success in recent months.

A big reason for Jadeja’s success is his move up the batting order to number six. He believes this simple change is the key to unlocking his full potential.

'Leading this team is a great honour': Shubman Gill registers his first series win as captain

He explained his thought process, saying, "As Gauti bhai (Gambhir) said, I’m at number six now. So I’m thinking more as a proper batsman, and that works for me."

This is a fundamental mental shift from his earlier years batting at number eight or nine, a position that demanded quick, risky runs. Now, he is focused on being an anchor for the middle order.

He confirmed this by stating, "I’m just trying to spend more time in the middle whenever I get a chance to bat."

This focus on responsibility and staying power has transformed him into a reliable pillar in the Indian batting line-up. This was perfectly exemplified by the composed century he scored in the first Test against the West Indies.

Beyond his personal batting adjustment, Jadeja was quick to praise the clarity and collective effort of the entire squad.

He noted that, "All in all, we’ve been doing wonderful work as a team, in terms of batting and bowling," and this successful run is rooted in a defined plan.

He said, "I think we know what brand of cricket we’ve been playing over the last five, six months. So that’s a good sign as a team, that we continue to do it over a long period of time."

On the bowling front, Jadeja is embracing the extra responsibility that comes with being the senior spinner.

He noted he is getting "a chance to bowl more overs," and this increased workload is a testament to the trust the captain has in his ability to control the game and provide crucial breakthroughs.

Despite his incredible success, Jadeja maintains a surprisingly simple focus, insisting he does not "think too much about records."

He chooses instead to focus on a core principle: contribution. He stated clearly, "I just focus on contributing with both bat and ball to help my team win."

For him, performing in both areas is essential to his identity as an all-rounder.

He elaborated that, "I feel if I don’t perform with bat and ball, then it doesn’t reflect my value as a player," and affirmed that he is always "keen and give my 100 percent."

In the series, Jadeja was outstanding with both bat and ball. In the first innings in Ahmedabad, he scored an unbeaten 104 and also claimed 8 wickets at an average of 27.13, underlining his pivotal role in India’s success.
