Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur heaped praise on her team’s resilience and mindset after their dominant victory over Delhi Capitals in the third match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. Harmanpreet, who was named Player of the Match for her match-winning knock, said the team responded strongly after a narrow defeat in their opening fixture.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet revealed that Mumbai came out with a tougher approach following their close loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where a single delivery proved decisive.
“It was a great game for us. We were very disappointed yesterday, but today we came out with a harder mindset. I got a start in the last game, and today I wanted to continue with the same positive intent. I’m really enjoying my batting and I have to credit the Indian team for that. Believing in yourself and doing things at the right time is what matters. Every wicket made me happy, nothing better than that in T20s,” Harmanpreet said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Delhi Capitals captain Jemimah Rodrigues admitted that while her side bowled well, the lack of batting partnerships cost them the game.
“We’ll work on that. It’s a different team, and we can’t be too harsh on ourselves. I know we’ll bounce back. I did enjoy captaining the side, and playing at home in front of my parents was special. A low turnaround helps, we won’t dwell on this loss,” Jemimah said.

Harmanpreet, Sciver-Brunt dominate as MI post 195

Asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians posted a formidable 195/4 in 20 overs despite losing Amelia Kerr for a golden duck in the opening over, dismissed by Chinelle Henry.
Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur steadied the innings with a crucial 66-run partnership. Sciver-Brunt played a fluent knock of 70 off 46 balls, smashing 13 boundaries before being dismissed by Shree Charani.
Harmanpreet led from the front, remaining unbeaten on 74 off 42 deliveries, which included eight fours and three sixes, powering Mumbai to a commanding total.
For Delhi Capitals, Nandani Sharma was the standout bowler with figures of 2/26 from three overs, while Chinelle Henry and Shree Charani picked up a wicket apiece.
Defending 196, Mumbai’s bowlers delivered a collective effort to bowl Delhi Capitals out for 145. The chase never gained momentum as Delhi’s top order collapsed cheaply, with Lizelle Lee, Shafali Verma, Laura Wolvaardt, and Jemimah Rodrigues all failing to make an impact.
Chinelle Henry fought a lone battle with a blistering 56 off 33 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes. However, no other Delhi batter managed to cross the 20-run mark.
Mumbai’s bowling attack was led by Nicola Carey (3/37), Amelia Kerr (3/24), and Nat Sciver-Brunt (2/29), sealing a comprehensive win and underlining MI’s title credentials early in the season.
