Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag won the toss and opted to bat first against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 of Indian Premier League 2026 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

With a place in the IPL 2026 final on the line, both sides entered the contest knowing the winner would face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday, May 31.

RR have decided to stick with the same playing XI that delivered in the Eliminator, backing the combination to continue their impressive run in the playoffs.

GT, meanwhile, welcomed a key boost with left-arm spinner Sai Kishore returning to the playing XI as they look to bounce back from their defeat in Qualifier 1 and secure a spot in the final.

GT vs RR: Captains at the toss

Riyan Parag said the surface looked very similar to the one used in the Eliminator and expected it to slow down as the match progresses. The RR skipper added that his bowling attack has enough variations to exploit those conditions later in the game.

“Pretty much the same wicket (to the last game). I just feel at the back end it slows down a little bit. And I've got more bowlers that use the slower ball. So I feel just trying to extract that.”

Shubman Gill said GT would also have preferred to bat first and did not expect the pitch to change much despite plenty of cricket already being played on it during the playoffs.

“We would have batted first as well. 40 overs of play has already been played on the wicket and we didn't think it's gonna change much.”
