A sudden electrical issue hit the Gujarat Titans’ vehicle late that night, right after they left the stadium grounds. The journey back turned tense when sparks began flickering under the dashboard mid-route. Everyone on board managed to step out without harm before things worsened. Though shaken, each member walked away unharmed despite the dark confusion outside.
A small fire broke out on the bus after an electrical problem, one newspaper said. Everybody came out, no one was waiting, as smoke filled parts of the vehicle. Stuck near the highway, they stood around for close to sixty minutes. Rides showed up late, arranged only afterwards. It might have turned worse, yet nobody got hurt in the end.
Final defeat caps difficult end to GT's campaign
Hours before the bus incident, the GT failed to claim their second IPL trophy. At their home ground, things went wrong fast when they lost both captain Shubman Gill and key batter Sai Sudharsan in the opening overs.
Fifty runs came off Sundar's bat, steady and unbroken till the end, lifting GT to 155 for eight. That score, though, folded too soon when Bengaluru chased it down without real trouble.
Faster than expected, RCB stepped up right away, thanks to sharp swings at the start, Virat Kohli steady, and Iyer explosive. Off 16 balls, Venkatesh Iyer fired 32 runs before stepping aside. Meanwhile, Kohli stayed put, pushing his way to 75 not out across 42 deliveries. The scoreboard ticked forward without strain. Five wickets down but calm throughout, Bengaluru crossed the line early, finishing it with twelve balls unused.
This time, the GT fell short again after making it to their third IPL final overall - two of those ending without a title. Their journey ended once more at the last hurdle.

Exhausting travel schedule added to GT's challenges
A rough week wrapped up with that bus crash, just after the Titans battled through back-to-back road trips in the playoff stretch. A loss opened their playoff journey, falling to RCB in Qualifier 1 at Dharamsala on May 26. After that came the move north to Chandigarh, before shifting again toward Mullanpur for a clash with Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 three days later.
Facing delays just before the big match, Gujarat's journey back turned tricky after storms in north-west India held up their chartered plane - three hours lost despite beating Rajasthan to reach the final.
Falling behind schedule meant the photo session with Shubman Gill and Rajat Patidar didn’t happen on time. Instead of smiles and cameras before
play, delays took priority that day.
Even though they left empty-handed, plus a scary moment after the game, safety came first when everyone made it through the bus trouble unharmed. GT might not have lifted a trophy, yet relief followed once all players and crew walked away okay.
A quiet win, really, tucked behind disappointment, no medals, but no injuries either. The ride home turned rough, but still nobody paid a heavy price. The season closed without glory; however, peace of mind stuck around because every single person stayed safe.
