NEW DELHI: Babar Azam’s struggles in the Big Bash League continued on Tuesday as the Sydney Sixers’ star was dismissed for a two-ball duck in the crucial Qualifier clash against Perth Scorchers, sparking brutal trolling from fans online.

Coming out to bat in the second innings, the right-hander looked under pressure. Babar survived only two deliveries as he was removed by Cooper Connolly’s brilliant spinning ball.

Connolly tossed it up full outside off, Babar came forward to drive but the ball turned away. Josh Inglis was lightning quick behind the stumps, and Babar’s foot was in the air by a matter of millimetres. The keeper whipped off the bails in no time and the crowd roared as Babar walked back for a two-ball duck.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Babar Azam has been going through a bating nightmare for some time now.

In the previous match as well, he was dismissed for just one run, and a similar pattern was seen again in this game. His feet were not moving, he was not able to strike the ball cleanly, and the pressure kept building from the very start.

Few days ago, a slight misunderstanding had already erupted between Babar and his opening partner Steve Smith. Smith denied a single, trying to make better use of the power surge, and Babar’s inability to rotate strike led to some uncomfortable and angry reactions on the field.
