NEW DELHI: Head coach Gautam Gambhir, a Delhi native, will play the perfect host as he has invited the Indian squad along with the entire support staff for dinner at his residence on October ahead of the second Test against the West Indies at New Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium, starting October 10, India Today reported.
However, the rain in the city could play spoilsport and disrupt Gambhir's plans, as he intends to host the dinner in the garden area. If it rains on Wednesday, the gathering may have to be shifted indoors.
India head into the second Test in New Delhi with a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, having crushed the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in the opener at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Ravindra Jadeja was the star of that victory, scoring an unbeaten 104 and claiming four wickets to bag the Player of the Match award for his all-round brilliance.
With the first Test wrapping up inside three days, the squad will regroup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 8 for their first training session before heading to head coach Gautam Gambhir's residence for a team dinner.
India currently sit third on the 2025–27 World Test Championship (WTC) points table, and another win against the West Indies could lift them a place higher.
Following the series, India will embark on a tour of Australia featuring three ODIs and five T20Is later this month. The ODI leg will mark the much-awaited return of senior stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after a seven-month break. Once that tour concludes, the team will return home to host South Africa for a full series comprising two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is.
