Despite of Good opening Partnership from Star Batter Smrti Mandhhana and Shefali Verma Indian women’s Cricket Team failed to chase 271 and lost by just five runs in a close encounter.

The Indian women's cricket team lost their second T20 match against England in a nail-biting T20 match by only 5 runs at the Oval cricket ground on Friday, 4th July 2025. After winning the first 2 T20 matches, it was the third match of the ongoing 5 match T20 Series.

Despite the loss team India still still ahead in this series 2-1. The last two matches of this series will be played at Old Trafford and Edgbaston. It will be a very good opportunity for Team India to win this historical T20 Series against England in England.

In this 3rd T20 Match England after winning the toss captain Tammy Beaumot elected to bat first and openers Sophia Dunkley 75 and Danni Wyatt-Hodge (66) provided a great strat with 137 runs partnership of only 92 balls. However one Sophia was dismissed by Deepti Sharma, England’s inning quickly crumbled.

Indian bowler Arundhati Reddy was the star performer with the ball took 3 wickets in one over, while Radha Yadav cleaned up Beaumount to get her 100th wicket in T20 cricket. She became 2nd Indian women to reach the milestone after Deepti Sharma. England collapsed to 171/9, They only managed to score only 34 runs in last 28 balls. It was a great comeback by Indian bowling side in the last 6 overs.

England Women Squads For Pakistan Series

India's chase started well. Smriti Mandhana’s 56 and Shafali Verma’s 47 gave great start with 85 runs partnership for the first wicket. After their dismissals and quick double blow from Lauren Filer The momentum shifted to England.

The require run rate climbed high and despite of from effort from Harmanpreet Kaur and Amanjot Kaur India needed 12 runs of the last 6 balls. In pressure situation Lauren Bell bowled beautifully conceded only 6 runs in the final over of the match and dismissed Indian Captain Harmanpreet Kaur on the final ball. It helped England to win the match by 5 runs.
