Amelia Kerr delivered a sensational all-round performance, including a remarkable hat-trick, as the New Zealand women's team thrashed the Zimbabwe women's team by 200 runs in the third ODI in Dunedin on Wednesday, March 11, to complete a commanding 3–0 series sweep.
Kerr first starred with the bat before dismantling Zimbabwe’s batting line-up with the ball. Her five-wicket haul, the third of her ODI career and second in the series, was highlighted by a hat-trick that left the visitors stunned and ensured New Zealand wrapped up the contest in emphatic fashion.

Batting first, New Zealand piled up an imposing 303 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs. Kerr’s steady 80 off 106 balls, laced with ten boundaries, laid the foundation for a big total.
Maddy Green then provided the acceleration with a superb 94 from just 73 deliveries, striking 12 fours. Brooke Halliday chipped in with a handy 40, while Izzy Gaze added late impetus with an unbeaten 18 to take the total past the 300 mark.
For Zimbabwe, Christabel Chatonzwa was the most successful bowler with figures of 2 for 48, while Tendai Makusha, Adel Zimunu and Precious Marange picked up a wicket each.
Zimbabwe’s chase never gained momentum as they were bowled out for just 103 in 27.1 overs. Loreen Tshuma offered brief resistance with 34 from 41 balls, but wickets fell at regular intervals as the New Zealand bowlers maintained relentless pressure.

Rosemary Mair claimed 2 for 16 while Nensi Patel added 1 for 16 before Kerr produced the decisive blow.
The New Zealand skipper tore through the lower order, finishing with remarkable figures of 5 for 22 in just 3.1 overs. Her hat-trick came in the 24th over of the chase when she dismissed Audrey Mazvishaya, Makusha and Nomvelo Sibanda in consecutive deliveries.
Amelia Kerr’s extraordinary display earned her both Player of the Match and Player of the Series honours after she finished the series with 140 runs and 16 wickets.
New Zealand will now turn their attention to a home series against the South Africa women's national cricket team, featuring five T20Is and three ODIs, starting March 15.
