The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a schedule for India's tour of Ireland in June. The Irish team is set to host the T20 World Cup champions in two T20Is before India's white-ball tour to England.

The Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast will be hosting both matches. The BCCI confirmed the first T20I will be played on June 26, and the second on June 28. Suryakumar Yadav's men will then tour England for the five-match T20I series starting on July 1.

The Men in Blues have previously toured Ireland three times and will be playing their first match in Belfast since 2007. Dublin played a host when India last toured Ireland in August 2023.

Meanwhile, before the Ireland tour, the BCCI is hosting Afghanistan in one Test and three-match ODI series. The one-off Test will be played in New Chandigarh from June 6, probably a week after the IPL 2026 final. The ODI series will begin on June 14 and will be hosted by Dharamsala, Lucknow (June 17) and Chennai (June 20).

India are expected to name a strong squad for the two T20Is against Ireland, as the majority of the players are not part of the ODI and Test teams. The BCCI is likely to monitor Jasprit Bumrah's workload and is expected to rest the star pacer from all the T20I matches before the ODI World Cup 2027

Ireland to have new captain for India T20Is

Ireland are looking for a fresh beginning after their group-stage exit at the T20 World Cup 2026. Paul Stirling stepped down from the T20I captaincy duties after the tournament, and Ireland are in the hunt for a new leader before the start of the India series.

Stirling succeeded Andy Balbirnie in 2023 and helped the team qualify for the T20 World Cup 2024 and 2026. However, Ireland suffered a group-stage exit in both events. Now, having already qualified for the T20 World Cup 2028, the Irish management is looking at a new face to lead the team.

Graeme West, Director of High Performance at Cricket Ireland, said:

“With qualification secured for the T20 World Cup in 2028, Paul’s decision to stand down as T20 captain provides the opportunity for the new captain to begin implementing their style and methodology, starting with the India Series in June.”

Meanwhile, Ireland are also hosting a Test match against New Zealand in Belfast before the start of the T20I series against India.
