The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced an INR 131 crore bonus for the Indian team after their historic success at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. This paycheck is set to surpass the amount received by Rohit Sharma's team that clinched the T20 World Cup in 2024.
Through a media advisory released by the BCCI on Tuesday, March 10, the BCCI revealed the cash reward for the Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team. The Men in Blues defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final in Ahmedabad on March 8, becoming the first team to defend the title in the tournament's history.
"The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future," Devajit Saika wrote in the advisory.
Meanwhile, the Indian team received INR 125 crore boonus following their T20 World Cup victory in 2024. They also bagged INR 58 crore after winning the ICC Champions Trophy last year.
Apart from a massive bonus from the Indian cricket governing body, the Indian cricket team also clinched the winner's prize money of INR 27.48 crore from the ICC. Runners-up New Zealand walked away with INR 14.65 crore.
BCCI congratulates the Indian team following historic T20 World Cup triumph
India overcame a defeat against South Africa in the Super Eights and survived a late scare against England in the semifinal before producing their best in the summit clash against New Zealand. Sanju Samson emerged as the leading run-scorer for India, scorching 321 runs in just five innings at a strike rate of 199.37. He scored three consecutive fifties to claim the Player of the Tournament award.
Apart from Samson's match-winning knocks, Ishan Kishan and Jasprit Bumrah also contributed to India's success in the home tournament. Bumrah produced his career-best figures of 4 for 15 in the final and finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets.

Appreciating players' contribution and the team's overall performance in the T20 World Cup 2026, the BCCI president, Mithun Manhas, said:
“Winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is a moment of immense pride for the entire nation. To defend the title and achieve this feat on home soil makes it even more special. The team played outstanding cricket throughout the tournament under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav and the guidance of Head Coach Gautam Gambhir. I congratulate every member of the squad, the coaching staff and the selectors for this remarkable accomplishment.”
Meanwhile, India became the first team to win the T20 World Cup three times, having previously won in 2007 and 2024.
