AUS failed to cross the line. The AUS team bowled out for 131 in 16.4 overs. After this 74-run victory, WI qualified for the final. Gayle won the player of the match award for his great innings.

Australia met WI in the ICC T20 WC on March 13 2016, at Kolkata. AUS posted 161/9 in the first innings. WI crossed the line 162/7 in 19.5 overs and WI won by 3 wickets. Daren Sammy was the top run scorer for WI. He posted 50 in 28 balls.
