In a positive move for Australia, Adam Zampa and Alex Carey came back to the ODI team before the second match of the series against India. Zampa was not part of the first ODI in Perth due to a family commitment, and Carey was allowed to play for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield as a way of getting ready for the Ashes.

Zampa Returns, Carey set to replace Philippe in Australia’s second ODI

Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa, the leg-spinner, will be back in the side, while after a great performance in the first ODI, Matthew Kuhnemann will take a rest. Kuhnemann is going to be back with the team before the first T20I in Canberra. On the other hand, Alex Carey is likely to come in for Josh Philippe to complete the XI.

Carey, the preferred wicketkeeper for Australia in ODIs, has been a very reliable batter, accumulating 2,212 runs at an average of 35.7 and a strike rate of 91.3. The left-hander, who is known for his calmness under pressure, has often been the one to stabilise Australia's innings in the middle order. Philippe, probably, will not be allowed to play even though he made a quick 37-run cameo in Perth, as the team management would want to bring in Carey.

Josh Inglis will remain unavailable for the second ODI as he continues to recover from a calf injury. However, according to Cricket.com.au, the explosive wicketkeeper-batter could return for the third and final ODI in Sydney. Inglis has featured in 33 ODIs, scoring 766 runs at an average of 29.5 and a strike rate of 106.4.

Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis has been ruled out of the ODI series due to a left calf injury. The fast bowler remains optimistic about regaining fitness in time for the upcoming T20I series against India.
