Sweets were distributed and prayers were offered as Dar’s family credited years of hard work and divine blessings for the young cricketer’s success.
“I thank God that I have lived to see this day. His selection is the result of his dedication and perseverance. I am extremely happy, beyond words,” said Dar’s father, Ghulam Nabi, a schoolteacher. He also urged youngsters to balance sports with education and stay away from bad habits.
Relatives and neighbours echoed similar emotions, praising Dar’s discipline and commitment to the game.
“It is a moment of immense joy for all of us. Celebrations are in full swing. His hard work has paid off, and words fall short to describe this happiness,” said Sajad-ul-Bashir, a relative.
Bashir added that Dar’s success has brought recognition to Sheeri and north Kashmir, encouraging parents to support children in pursuing their sporting ambitions without undue pressure.
Dar has been in impressive form this season, delivering consistent performances in both the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Ranji Trophy, which played a key role in attracting the attention of IPL scouts.
