The Board of Control for Cricket in India on August 19 announced the Asia Cup team squad of India on August 19 in Mumbai. India will surely try to lift the 9th Asia Cup title under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav.

The Defending Champion India’s Asia Cup squad looks very strong and well-balanced this time under the leadership of Captain Suryakumar Yadav.

The Squad looks different from the one that won last year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Star players like Jasprit Bumrah and a few others have returned to the squad, making the team stronger.

Indian Team Combination For the Asia Cup:

India’s Asia Cup team squad includes 15 players with a decent combination in every department. The squad features 2 wicketkeepers, 6 batters, 5 bowlers and 2 all-rounders. All these players can change the game situation in 1 over with their stunning performance. This combination is built to succeed in the UAE conditions, where depth and versatility often decide the match outcome.

Wicket Keepers:

In the wicket-keeping role, Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been selected. They both delivered spectacular performances in the past few years. Samson has been the most consistent player for Team India in the past few years, especially in T20 cricket.  Aggressive batting and the sharp glove work of both WKs make them perfect in this role.

Batters:

India’s batting lineup is looking very impressive with firepower in the Asia Cup.  Captain Suryakumar Yadav, known for his 360-degree strokeplay, is an impactful player. Shubman Gill and Tilak Verma are the rising stars of Indian cricket. Their batting strengthens the middle order. They might play a crucial role in the Asia Cup. Shivam Dube has great skills and the ability to play in a finisher role. All these players are going to play a key role in the UAE’s spin-friendly pitch.

Bowlers:

The bowling attack of Team India is equally well-balanced, whether it's spin or pace. The comeback of Jasprit Bumrah after the T20 World Cup in 2024 is going to be a big plus point for India in the Asia Cup. Arshdeep Singh, with his left-arm fast bowling, and Kuldeep Yadav,  with his wrist-spin, are both reliable for India. Pace and spin bowling of Harsit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy adds more flexibility to the bowling lineup.

All-Rounders:

India’s Asia Cup team squad also includes two fantastic all-rounders. Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel. Pandya’s all-around ability makes him a game-changer. In crunch moments. Axar, with his spin and lower-order hitting ability, adds depth and balance. Their presence ensures India has options in both departments, especially in close match situations.

India’s Asia Cup Squad is a clear statement of intent. Selectors trust in young talent for their solid performance in the past. With a mix of specialists and utility players, the team is well prepared to face the challenges of the tournaments and go for the title. India will play the first match of the Asia Cup against the UAE on September 10.
