Star batter Virat Kohli continued his red-hot form by smashing his second consecutive century in the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur on Wednesday. The 37-year-old, who struck 135 in the series opener in Ranchi, reached his ton off just 90 deliveries. This was his 53rd ODI century, further extending his record for the most centuries in the format and his 84th in international cricket, bringing him one step closer to Sachin Tendulkar's all-time tally.

The former India captain has once again answered critics with his bat, recording back-to-back hundreds to anchor India’s innings. His brilliance drew immediate praise online, including from former opener Virender Sehwag, who took to X to hail Kohli’s marathon consistency.

"Virat Kohli ko 100 ka nasha hi alag hai. Hum log centuries gin rahe hote hain, woh bas routine ka kaam samajh ke kar deta hai. Back-to-back 100s for the King. 53rd ODI hundred. Virat hai toh mumkin hai."

Sehwag also acknowledged Ruturaj Gaikwad’s maiden ODI century, applauding the duo for leading India's charge in Raipur.
